Who We Are
In April 2009, the Calumet Traveling Sams celebrated its 38th year in existence. The Good Sam
Club itself in 2009 celebrates its 43nd Anniversary. In May of 2008 we had the honor of being
selected the Indiana Good Sam "Chapter Of the Year". Also in May of 2008, we received an award
from Good Sam International for having the largest membership growth for the previous 12
months.
Our mission is to promote fun and friendship among fellow campers, assist people in any way that
we can, and provide fellowship.

Membership
Our membership consists of people who are married and single. We accept new members who
have the following types of campers: Class A motor home, Class C motor home, class B motor
home, travel trailer, fifth wheel, pop-up, and tents.

In fact, you do not have to be a camper to enjoy our fun and friendship. All that a person needs to
be a member of our club is the love of the outdoors and the willingness to attend meetings with a
group of people who enjoy the same things.

Our Interests
The Calumet Traveling Sams in 2008 have donated to various organizations. We have a special
interest in Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis since one of our members is a regular guest
there. In 2008 we have donated over 1,100 lbs of magazines for family members to read while
their loved ones are receiving treatment.

We collected over 300 pounds of newspapers for the Northwest Indiana Humane Society along
with about $250.00 in cash for the care of abused animals. We have also donated over 1000
pounds of dog and cat food to these shelters along with other items to make the animals
comfortable.

Included in our charitable contributions were the Ronald McDonald House where we have donated
in 2008, 150 pounds of aluminum tabs, along with 27 videos, 6 board games, 32 pounds of
shampoos and lotions, and paper back books.

We also support Jacobs Ladder which is located in Portage with a cash donation.
Some members have donated their time for worthwhile projects such as the Spring Valley
Homeless Shelter and Habitat for Humanity. Many of our members donate a lot of their time at
local food pantries also.

Come and join us and help us in our endeavor to assist others that are not as fortunate as we are,
and have the fun and comradery of camping with us during the summer.
